What the website collects, and why

Messages through the contact form

When you send a message, the website collects your name, your email address, your phone number if you give it, and your message. It is stored on the website and emailed to the salon so that I can reply to you. It is kept until I delete it.

Booking an appointment online

When you book, the website collects your name, email address and phone number, the treatments, day and time you choose, and any note you add. It is stored on the website and emailed to you and to the salon so that your appointment is confirmed and I know who is coming. If the salon’s diary is connected to Google Calendar, the appointment is added to it too. Bookings are kept so that I have a record of your visits, until I delete them.

Paying a deposit

Deposits are paid by card through Stripe, a payment company. You type your card details into Stripe’s own secure page, not into this website, and the salon never sees them. The website keeps a record of what was paid and when.

Who looks after it

The website is hosted for 1913 Beauty in the United Kingdom by British Web Design, who process this information on the salon’s behalf and deliver its emails. They do not use it for anything else.

Cookies

The website sets two small cookies that every visitor needs: a session cookie, which lets pages such as the booking form work as you move between them, and a security cookie, which stops other websites sending forms in your name. Neither is used to track you.

The website’s own visitor counts do not use cookies at all.

If the salon ever switches on Google Analytics or advertising tags, a banner will ask you first, and nothing from them is set unless you accept. Your answer is remembered in your browser, and you can change it at any time.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you can ask for a copy of the information the salon holds about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to how it is used. Email info1913beauty@gmail.com and I will reply within a month.

If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

This policy may change from time to time, for example if the website starts doing something new. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
